Program Sentuhan Kasih Deepavali Petronas


Last Saturday, I went to Kampung Wellington @ Perak for Program Sentuhan Kasih Deepavali Petronas with the bloggers! Nana and Povy were there too!

So basically, Sentuhan Kasih program is a PETRONAS’ initiative to enhance the spirit of giving and volunteerism among its employees and affiliates. This program is organized by PETRONAS’ employees to reach out to the less privileged communities during Malaysia’s main festival seasons such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Deepavali, Gawai Dayak dan Tadau Kaamatan. And Kampung wellington is located at Ayer Tawar in Manjung, Perak.

We met up at Suria Klcc at 6 o’clock in the morning and we took bus to there which sponsored by Petronas.Hmm, it's been awhile for me to wake up early after I graduated from high school.  It actually took me awhile to get out from bed LOL. Luckily, I didn’t oversleep ~_~



It took about 3hours to reach here , I didn’t know Perak is like so far away from KL :o So yea, we’re here for gotong-royong! There’re total of 500 pax villagers from 66families and most of the villagers are Indians! More than 90% of the villagers are with household income of lesser than RM700 and most of them work at the palm estate and being paid on a daily basis which not fixed monthly income somemore!

I talked to an indian aunty who sat right beside me because I’m curious about their life and I wonder how could they live with such a less amount of income. Then she told me she works at the palm estate with her husband and both of them have to work hard so that they could have enough money for her childrens. She said she felt happy when she heard there’s this program by Petronas will be coming to their village and help them up. I feel blessed being able to talk with her because she makes me realize how hard is it for us to earn money for a living.

And I also interviewed a few students from Universiti Teknologi Pertonas about how they felt when they were the volunteers for this program. They told me they’re happy to help those that need it, and they put a lot of efforts on a series of fun educational activities facilitated for them


 Lend a helping hand

I’m happy I get to help them up by beautify their environment. Hopefully next time there’ll be more events like this to help the needy ☺
